Remembering the past
In the late 1990s, Volkswagen and Land Rover were very close to a collaborative project that would result in a large SUV based on Land Rover's Discovery. The idea was to combine the design and engineering expertise of both brands to create a vehicle that offered the best of both worlds: comfort, off-road performance and cutting-edge technology. Unfortunately, the project never got off the ground, leaving automotive enthusiasts wondering what could have been.
Exploring the future
With advances in technology and the popularity of SUV models, we decided to create our own projection of the unlikely Volkswagen version of the Land Rover Discovery. Inspired by the bold design of the Volkswagen Atlas and the elegant lines of the Land Rover Discovery Sport, we imagined a unique vehicle that combines the best of both brands.
A virtual merger
Through digital exploration, we were able to unite past and future in a single car concept. We envision a robust SUV, with aerodynamic lines, imposing wheels and a striking front grille, typical features of models such as the Atlas and Discovery Sport. We've added cutting-edge technology touches such as LED headlights, 360-degree cameras and autonomous driving assistants, giving the vehicle a futuristic and sophisticated atmosphere.
This design exercise allows us to imagine what this collaboration between Volkswagen and Land Rover would have been like. And, who knows, maybe in the future the brands will actually come together to create a unique model, which combines the best of their technologies and design philosophies.
