The Kogod School of Business, a division of the University of Washington, has compiled a ranking of the "most American" cars.
Its authors analyzed the models by the participation of local components of American and Canadian production.
The leaders of the rating were American models, but four models from the Japanese automaker Honda were in the top ten at once.
The ranking of the most American cars
The leader of this ranking last year, the iconic Ford Mustang for the American market, took only 22nd place in 2022, and three Jeep models closed the ranking at once.
First place was taken by Lincoln Corsair, and the “gold” rating was shared by both versions of the car: petrol and hybrid, each with 72% of locally produced components.
The second place went to the Tesla Model 3 electric car in the Long Range modification: 65% of the parts are manufactured in America or Canada.
Third place belongs to Chevrolet Corvette with 62%.
At the same time, not all cars that reached the top of this rating are of American origin.
For example, the Honda Passport finished in seventh place, beating three Ford models: F-150, Ranger and Bronco.
Also in the top ten were: Honda Odyssey, Ridgeline and Pilot.
The 17th place in the ranking was almost completely occupied by non-American models: Acura MDX and RDX, Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and even Kia K5.
These cars were able to beat Camaro, Chevrolet Tahoe and Silverado.
In mid-summer, a similar assessment was made by experts at cars.com.
Then, the first and second places went to Tesla Model Y and Model 3, respectively, Lincoln Corsair took third place and Honda Passport then took fourth place, beating Tesla Model X, which received only fifth position.
