The success of the Digital Cluster
Previously viewed with suspicion, Chinese cars have been gaining ground and space in buyers' garages. Proof of this is that throughout the month of March this year, one in every three cars sold in the world it was manufactured in the Asian country. Sales growth in the global market
According to the general secretary of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), Cui Dongshu, last month, Chinese vehicles reached a share of 33% of the total. The number of global sales in the period, however, reached 8.15 million units. In the first quarter of 2024, however, 21.05 million vehicles were sold worldwide, an annual increase of 3%.

Based on the data, the increase in sales figures for Chinese cars on the global stage is notable. To give you an idea, in 2008, vehicles sold made in the Asian country, in short, represented 13.7% worldwide. Number that jumped to 20.8% in 2009, 29% in 2019, 32% in 2020 and 33% in 2022, where it remains today.
Manufacturers that sell the most
Be that as it may, Chinese automakers still do not appear at the top of the list. The leadership continues with the Japanese Toyota, which represents 10.6% of total global car sales. In the meantime, it is the only one with more than 10% of market share. Next comes the German Volkswagen (9.5%) and the South Korean Hyundai, with 7.4%.

A Geely, in principle, is the only Chinese in the top ten. In the quarterly report (January to March 2024), the owner of the Volvo has a market share of 3.5%. And it is precisely the Swedish manufacturer's sales that contributed to this. In numbers, it finally registered 738,400 units in the period. Next come BYD (3.2%) and, finally, Chery, with 3% of global market share.
