Omoda and Jaecoo: Arrival in Brazil

Chinese brands Omoda and Jaecoo are about to arrive in Brazil later this year, with 43 official points of sale expected to open in May. Initially planning to open 40 stores, the brands reevaluated their strategy and now plan to have up to 50 dealerships in Brazilian territory by the end of 2024.

Models arriving on the Brazilian market

The first vehicle to be launched by these brands will be the Omoda 5, a coupe crossover that will be available in three versions – two mild hybrids and a top-of-the-line 100% electric version. With dimensions similar to the Jeep Compass, the Omoda 5 is 4.40 meters long, 1.83 meters wide, 1.58 meters high and has a wheelbase of 2.63 meters.

Leading model of the brand in the international market

The Omoda 5, also known as C5 in some markets, has a mild hybrid option with a 1.6 turbo engine with up to 197 hp. Furthermore, the EV version features a front electric motor that generates 225 hp, with an estimated electric range of 450 km.

Competition and cost

Still without information on prices charged in Brazil, it is speculated that the Omoda 5 will be positioned in the market below Chinese competitors such as the GWM Haval H6 and BYD Song Plus. In addition to Omoda, Jaecoo will also make its debut, sharing dealership space with Omoda.

Jaecoo: Showroom division with Omoda

Jaecoo will bring the J7 and J8 models to the Brazilian market. The J7 is a medium SUV, with a 190 hp 1.6 turbo engine, and promises a plug-in hybrid version. The J8, with capacity for 7 passengers, has a 249 hp 2.0 Turbo engine, also available in the PHEV version.
