StartcarsAston Martin DBR22 is elected the best model of the Show Concours d'Elegance

Aston Martin DBR22 named best model at Show Concours d'Elegance

Just a month after its world debut at the prestigious Monterey Car Week, the Aston Martin DBR22 immediately proved to be a model winner, having been named Best of Show during the Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille at the Concours d'Élégance Award.

The new Aston Martin DBR22, which is a design concept built on a two-seater with a V12 engine and born to celebrate the brand's open-cockpit sports car lineage, was awarded by jury members Anne Asensio, Design Experience Vice President of Dassault Systems, Cyril Duval adviser to the Le Point group, and Michael Bock, former head of Mercedes-Benz-Classic.

The blue belt's Best of Show Concours d'Élégance title reflects the immediate and significant impact of Aston Martin's design concept on the world of luxury cars.

Aston Martin DBR22 first win

The victory is the first for Aston Martin since the start of this Concours d'Élégance in 2014 and represents a major achievement for the historic British brand.

The creation of the DBR22 design concept is the latest in a long line of extraordinary projects expertly managed by the in-house bespoke division, Q by Aston Martin, which this year celebrates a decade of building unique cars for the world's most demanding customers and features a completely new body from Aston Martin designers.

Its form is constructed from a carriage crafted from a minimal number of body panels to provide a sculpted, robust presence.

The result is a smooth, effortless blend of exceptional drama and elegance, with a number of unique design features.

“Winning the Chantilly Concours d'Élégance for the first time with our DBR22 design concept is undoubtedly a special honor for Aston Martin. What was important to us in the design of the DBR22 was to express a future here and now. The jury clearly recognized our efforts to evolve surfaces, proportions and shapes and break new ground with this car,” said Marek Reichman, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, Aston Martin.

“By combining advanced processes, technologies and materials, we were able to modernize our racing line and create a new pedigree. The DBR22 is a thoroughbred, hot-blooded Aston Martin sports car full of speed, agility and temperament that we believe will form the basis for our icons of tomorrow.”
