Digital Cluster: BYD Shark's impressive dimensions compared to the competition

With 5.45 meters long, 1.97 m wide and 3.26 m wheelbase, the BYD Shark It's a little bigger than today's midsize pickup trucks. For example, the Toyota Hilux It is 5.32 m long and 1.85 m wide, with a wheelbase of 3.08 m. Meanwhile, the ford ranger measures 5.37 m, 1.92 m and 3.27 m, respectively. Another competitor is Chevrolet S10, which has just won the 2025 line with a look inspired by the North American Colorado.

BYD Shark will be the first plug-in hybrid pickup truck

In addition to its larger size, the Chinese brand's pickup truck promises to revolutionize the category as the first plug-in hybrid, which recharges from an external source. For now, there are not many details, but it is already known that BYD Shark will have the DMO platform for hybrid vehicles with 4x4 drive. The set will have a gasoline engine combined with two other electric motors installed, one on each axle. This way, you'll have four-wheel drive for off-roading.

This hybrid set will provide around 480 hp of power to the BYD Shark, which will therefore have impressive performance figures. Another important point is the range, and, in this regard, the Chinese brand's pickup truck also promises to impress Brazilians. The model will have around 100 km of range in 100% electric mode and a combined range of around 1,000 km (with the battery charged and the fuel tank full).

Electric Ford F-150 look

A detail already evident in the first images of the BYD Shark is the front very similar to that of the Ford F-150 Lightning. This is the 100% electric version of the North American brand's pickup truck. Because the Chinese woman almost copied the look in her “hard face”. The design is mainly marked by the LED contour of the headlights that joins the grille, forming a line that goes from one side to the other. Even the more vertical headlights are reminiscent of the Ford model.

At least inside, the truck will have its own style, as well as being full of technologies. The rotating screen of the multimedia center, for example, is on the list of standard items with the instrument panel (also digital and the Head-Up display. Blind spot alerts, adaptive cruise control and even a 540° panoramic view camera ° (which combines a 360° view with a 180° view of the bottom of the chassis) will also be in the package.

Pickup can be made in Brazil

BYD Shark is another possible candidate to gain national production in Camaçari (BA) in the coming years. Just like its future direct rival, GWM Poer, another hybrid pickup that should also be produced nationally and arrives this year. Spottings in Asia revealed that the BYD vehicle will have a range of more than 1,000 km. Furthermore, an electric version is in the automaker's plans, but only for 2025.
