Hennessey Venom 1200 Mustang GT500: The American tuner's most powerful muscle car with 1,217 horsepower

The Mustang Shelby GT500 is the most powerful muscle car created by Ford, something that has not prevented several tuners from getting even greater and sometimes even disproportionate performance out of it, such as Hennessey, specialized among other brands in the Ford Models segment and which managed to raise the power of the Mustang Shelby GT500 to exceed the magic figure of 1,000 hp.

Renamed as the Hennessey Venom 1200 Mustang GT500 , the Texan company proposed to give a turnaround in its preparation, extracting even more juice from its creation, transforming the Mustang Shelby GT500 into the most powerful muscle car they have ever created.

The numbering included in their denomination should give us the first clue, so let's go straight to see what they surprise us with.

Hennessey Venom 1200 Mustang GT500 Specifications

Let's remember that the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 houses under its hood a 5,200 CC V8 block developed by Ford Performance, which equips an Eaton volumetric compressor to help it reach a non-negligible power of 771 CV along with a torque of 847 Nm that is sent to the rear axle via a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

Numbers that, while outrageous, now look ridiculous with the work done by Hennessey.

For the Venom 1200 Mustang GT500, the Hennessey team swapped out the compressor for a larger one, specifically a 3.8-liter, along with other improvements like a high-flow induction system, new injectors and fuel lines, and new belts and tensioners. .

All this to ensure that the V8 now reaches the impressive figure of 1,217 hp and a torque of 1,223 Nm that continues to be transferred to the rear axle through the standard automatic box that is recalibrated in the face of so much power.

Note that the company recommends using high-octane fuel such as E85 to achieve this power.

Aside from the mechanical modifications, the Venom 1200 Mustang GT500 remains unchanged and looks like any other Shelby GT500 Mustang, although Hennessey can optionally install a special livery that honors the Ford Mark II GT40 winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2016. 1966, along with the Hennessey vinyls that can't be missing either.

If the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is already rare to find anywhere outside the United States, it will be even rarer to find a Venom 1200 Mustang GT500, and that's what the American company plans to build just 66 units for the whole world with an estimated price at around US$ 59,950, not counting the Mustang price.
