Jeep Wrangler Rubicon FarOut Edition Decrees the End of EcoDiesel

The Jeep Stellantis brand has decreed the end of production of the Wrangler EcoDiesel, with the limited edition Wrangler Rubicon FarOut, which offers four different powertrain options.

That is, the limited edition model will be the last Jeep Wrangler equipped with the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine.

With the end of EcoDiesel, Wrangler buyers will have the option of a turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4, 3.6-liter V-6, 6.4-liter V-8, and the plug-in hybrid drivetrain on the 4x.

Despite this, Jeep has confirmed that the EcoDiesel will still be offered on the Jeep Gladiator model for now, along with the 3.6-liter V-6 petrol.

“At Jeep, we are always listening to our customers and motivated to improve our legendary 4×4 capability. The Wrangler Rubicon FarOut special edition is our tip of the hat for the EcoDiesel technology in the Wrangler,” said Jim Morrison, senior vice president and head of the Jeep brand in North America.

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon FarOut Edition

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon FarOut Edition will come equipped with a “Diesel 3.0L” hood graphic, “3.0 D” badge, unique 17-inch aluminum wheels, black leather seats with red accents, Cold Weather Group package, Trailer package -Tow and Heavy Duty Electrical Group, Safety Group Package, LED Lighting Package, body-color fender flares, stained black grille, and all-weather floor mats.

For off-road service, the FarOut Edition model will feature third-generation Dana 44 heavy-duty front and rear axles, a 3.73 axle ratio, and a two-speed Rock-Trac transfer case with a low gear ratio of 4.0:1.

So if you want to buy the latest Jeep Wrangler model with Ecodiesel, it's better to race against time, as orders for the model go until November 2022.

Model deliveries are expected to start in October, which means it won't be long before we see the final diesel-powered Wranglers on the roads and tracks.
