Kia has unveiled the Sportage X-Pro, a model that will participate in the Rebelle Rally 2022, marking its third consecutive year at the event.
O SUV, supported by LGE-CTS Motorsports, will compete in the X-Cross class of the women's rally, which will take place in the deserts of Nevada and California.
The team that will face the 2,414km challenge is driver Verena May and co-driver Tana White, who will be back for another year with Kia after finishing second in 2021 with a similarly modified Sorento PHEV.
The Kia Sportage X-Pro
The new rally car is heavily based on the Sportage X-Pro 2023, which is the toughest off-road finish available.
In addition to the quirky paint job, the model has received several updates with an off-road focus, making it more suitable for extreme terrain.
The 17-inch Rhino wheels are wrapped in grippy BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A K02 tires.
Front and rear skid plates, combined with the underbody and Baja Forged bumper protector, keep the Sportage safe from rocks and debris, while towing points at both ends make it easy to get out of tough situations.
Under the hood is the 2.5-liter Smartstream GDI four-cylinder engine that produces 187 hp (140 kW / 190 PS).
Power is transmitted to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission and the Active AWD system that features multi-terrain driving modes.
Rally Rebelle 2022 will take place between October 6th and 15th.
It's worth remembering that this is Kia's third time at the event, with the automaker having finished second and third in 2021 with a Sorento PHEV and second in 2020 with a Telluride.
