O New Astra debuted last year, but the new generation of the popular Golf rival has yet to gain an OPC variant, leaving the GS Line finish as the sportiest of the bunch. However, compact hatchback owners looking to spice things up a bit can turn to the German Irmscher kit, which is developing a series of visual modifications, officially previewed via digital renderings.
Starting with the outside, the Irmscher bodykit includes a front bumper extension with a splitter, new side skirts, a larger roof spoiler and a rear bumper extension with a diffuser. The look is further enhanced with red accents throughout the body, Irmscher graphics on the profile and an optional two-tone paint treatment in line with Opel's latest design language.
No visual mod pack would be complete without a new set of wheels. Irmscher has 2 different designs, including the “Cosmo Star” and “High Star” with a diameter of 19 inches, and the “Turbo Star” which is slightly smaller at 18 inches. All wheels are available in black and with 225/45 tires.
As is evident from the renders, the suspension is lowered by 30 mm (1.2 inches), bringing the Astra closer to the ground in combination with bodykit add-ons. Irmscher also updated the interior with things like stainless steel door sills, velvet rugs and a selection of leather upholstery options for the seats. Irmscher did not announce prices for the parts, but said updates would be available soon.
The company adds that the modifications are compatible with all Opel Astra powertrain variants, but did not mention any power upgrades. The Opel Astra is offered in 1.2 Puretech petrol, 1.5 BlueHDi diesel or HYBRID-e plug-in hybrid variants. Powers range from 108 hp (81 kW / 110 PS) to 222 hp (165 kW / 225 PS).
