The Dodge Chargers are known for being tire-shredding machines (at least the two-wheel drive ones), but one Hellcat owner went a little too far when he caught fire while trying to burnout.
The incident took place at Irwindale Speedway, California, where a car rally was taking place. The Charger can be seen doing zero for about two minutes straight before eventually catching fire. That's what happened, however, a few seconds later, the rear of the car exploded.
It is not clear why the charger blew up, but most people in the comments were speculating that it was the tire bursting on its own or possibly another flammable substance. Fortunately, the organizers of the meeting set up an enclosure for people to do their stunts, so spectators were out of harm's way.
Shortly afterward, a team of firefighters was able to put out the fire while the tire tracks burned just like the Back to the Future movie. Supposedly everyone involved was safe, including the driver, but we have to wonder why he didn't stop immediately when his Hellcat caught fire.
At the end of the video, we can see the car, and surprisingly, it appeared to suffer little to no structural damage. That said, it was still charred, and who knows what's going on under the skin. However, the owner took it home and could be seen revving the engine on the way out.
