Four years after the launch of the current generation, the compact Mercedes-Benz Class A has just been updated.
The new model, offered in hatchback and sedan versions, bets on electrification for a large part of the mechanical range and few changes to its aesthetics were made.
However, the front grille, the interior design of the headlights and even the rear diffuser were modified.
Inside the vehicle you will find a new steering wheel, a restructured center console with a circular button to control the MBUX infotainment system.
More details on the new generation of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class
The new compact has a seven-inch digital instrument panel and a 10.25-inch central display. In addition, some finishes and materials change at different levels of equipment.
Mercedes has also taken the opportunity to improve its equipment and incorporate a rear-view camera and USB package as standard across the range.
The superior finishes now have a package of mirrors, parking package, LED headlights and lumbar support in the seats.
The most important changes focus on the mechanical part and except for the plug-in hybrid version and the top-of-the-line AMG, all combustion engines incorporate micro-hybrid technology and opt for automatic shifts, leaving manuals aside.
The new A-Class also offers a new choice of exterior paint finishes: solid, metallic and MANUFAKTUR.
Another novelty is the integration of a fingerprint sensor for driver identification and authorization.
Smartphone connectivity via Apple Carplay or Android Auto takes place wirelessly, while for additional connectivity a USB-C port has been added and the USB charging power has been increased again.
From a technical point of view, the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class is offered with light hybrid and electrified 48V hybrid engines, with 10 kW of additional power, or around 14 horsepower, and all engines are available with automatic transmission only.
The range therefore comprises the following versions: A 180 (1.3 turbo 136 hp from 130 g/km), A 200 (1.3 turbo 163 hp from 130 g/km), A 220 4Matic (2.0 190 hp) at 154 g/km) and the A 250 4Matic (2.0 turbo 224 hp at 155 g/km).
The price of the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class and its launch date have not yet been announced.
